Massanetta Springs Road Cleaned Up

Only four Sunnyside residents showed up on a cool, sunny morning for the semi-annual Adopt-A-Highway cleanup along Massanetta Springs Road on Saturday, October 19.  The cleanup is organized each time by Andy and Frances Sale, who coordinate with the Virginia Department of Transportation to get safety signs at each end of the road, along with bright safety vests, gloves, pickup tools and trash bags.

After meeting at the upper entrance to Sunnyside for safety instructions and equipment, Frances Sale and Roxana Atwood headed south toward the Shen Lake intersection, while Andy Sale and Galen Moses walked toward highway 33 collecting trash along the way and back. Both teams finished their work in about 1-½ hours, collecting four large bags of trash to be picked up by VDOT.
