Music in the Air !

Highlands residents and guests were treated to a program by young students of Sunnyside resident Mary Rouse on Friday night, December 15, in the Highlands first floor elevator lobby. Ranging in age from 7-15, these students played Christmas music on piano and violin. With them were family members who added to the congenial spirit of the evening. To add to the fun, Barbara Kauffman, played a number of carols, and the audience joined in singing “White Christmas” and other songs throughout the program.

But, the students shared more than the music they performed. Along with their teacher and Barbara Kauffman, they shared the spirit and energy of Christmas through music and good will toward all men. The tiny candy canes they handed out were but a token of love and friendship.

The wonderful words of appreciation shared with the performers will serve as lasting encouragement and reinforcement of the importance of music in our lives at all ages. We hope these students will return often to share their love of music!
