Sunnyside will be Shining Through!
To keep our holiday bright, Sunnyside, the Tech Group and the Woodworkers have joined forces to set up the following special events:Illumination Week Dec 7 – 12
Most decorations and lights will be completed and SHINING during this week. Please let Marketing know (Ext 8411) if any resident needs assistance with hanging lights or decorations outside. In addition, if you have lights or outdoor decorations that are not being used, we can possibly find a place to use them. Please put your name on them so we can return them to you when we take down decorations at the beginning of the year.
Christmas Light Show Preview Saturday, December 19, 6 pm- 7 pm Lyons Pavilion
Sunnyside Residents are invited to preview the Sunnyside Tech Club’s Light Show that will be part of Marketing’s Tour of Lights event. Stop by the pavilion between 6 and 7 to view this light show that is set to holiday music, including recordings from the Sunnyside Singers! Viewing from your vehicle where you can tune your car radio into channel FM 99.3 to the synchronizing music (For COVID-19 safety, one resident household per vehicle please). If viewing this show outside of a vehicle, please maintain social distancing and wear a mask. To maintain uncongested traffic flow we ask residents to view this light show on this designated evening rather than during the Tour of Lights when guests and additional traffic will be on campus. Don’t forget to vote for the Sunnyside department decorated trees. See the “Outdoor Departmental Tree Contest” article in this week’s newsletter for more information.
An Invitation to Resident Families: Marketing’s Tour of Lights Monday, December 21 Anytime between 7 pm- 8:30 pm Sunnyside Campus
In addition to being invited to participate in the Sat., December 12 Family Drive-Thru Parade, families of Sunnyside Residents are invited on campus to participate in the Marketing’s Tour of Lights event to view Sunnyside’s festive holiday decorations, the tech club’s light show, and more! Families attending the Tour of Lights should enter campus via the upper gate (across from Massanetta Springs pond) where each vehicle will receive a campus map with the driving route. As always, family members should wear their masks and stay in their vehicle at all times. To maintain uncongested traffic flow we ask residents to view the tech club light show during the special preview on the evening of Sat., December 19th, and view the campus holiday decorations any evening prior to or after Mon., December 21st. Resident family members can please register to attend by calling Marketing at 568-8411
NOTE: To prevent traffic congestion and ensure safety, the times were split up for December 21th marketing event as follows:
5:00 - 7:00 PM Marketing Guests 7:00 – 8:30 PM Resident families and Staff with their families
We are tweaking the route map and will send that out once finalized. For now, we are trying to keep it simple; starting at the other entrance(near Assisted Living) then through the Glen, following Glenside Drive around the outer circle, then around the Marlowe tree on Grattan Price Drive and exiting through the current operating guard house. All safety protocols will be in place including all guests coming to campus staying in their cars and wearing masks. The local police and EMS have been notified. Marketing is asking for Resident family members and staff to please register to attend by calling Marketing at 568-8411 so we can plan for traffic flow.
A special thanks to Sunnyside Marketing and Grounds for their work setting this up, to the Woodworkers for making the illuminated snowflakes for the Pavilion, and the Tech Group for light show support, especially Pete Fundinger, Colleen Cahill-Landis and Sunnyside's Chris Showalter.
