Village Association
PurposeThe purpose of the Village Association is to promote social interaction among the independent-living residents and to serve as a liaison for communication between the members and the Sunnyside Administration. Former members of the Association living in the Highlands and Eiland Center are able to continue their Association membership by paying the annual dues, but may not vote or hold office.
OrganizationThe Sunnyside Village Association is an organization composed of independent-living residents of the cottages, villas, and apartments on the Sunnyside Campus. The Association’s Board consists of four (4) officers (the "Chairman," the "Vice-Chairman," the "Secretary," and the "Treasurer"); and the six (6) Association group representatives. Additionally, the "Immediate Past Chair" serves, without a vote, as an ex-officio member of the Board. New officers are elected by a majority vote of members present at the Association’s annual meeting for a term of two years. To ensure continuity on the Board, the Chairman and the Treasurer stand for election in the odd years, and the Vice-Chairman and the Secretary stand for election in the even years. The Association membership is divided into groups. Each group has a representative on the Board who generally serves for a period of two (2) years (the Glen will have two (2) representatives due to its size and number of residents), but may serve longer with the approval of the Village Association Board. Group representatives are appointed by the Association’s Board from membership volunteers. The Association groups are organized geographically as follows:
MeetingsThe Association meetings are held, when possible, during first week of the months of September, December, March, and May. The May meeting is designated as the "Annual Meeting." Members are notified, in writing, as to the date, time and location of Association meetings. In addition, the date and time of Association meetings are published in the Sunnyside’s monthly newsletter (“The Funside”) and on the in-house channel (Channel 970).
