IN CASE YOU MISSED IT - PLAN TO ATTEND!

The Sunnyside Green Committee presents "Living into the Future: Minimizing your Environmental Footprint” (snowed out early this month) now rescheduled for Monday, January 27, 1:45 pm, at the Bethesda Theatre.

Join Charles Hendricks, Architect, Gaines Group Architects, as he discusses energy efficiency strategies, indoor air quality, durability, and environmental impact of decisions being made in built structures. Charles will also share options for building materials, HVAC, insulation, lighting, accessibility, chemical off gassing and more! In 2014, his firm, Gaines Group Architects, was named 'best small architectural firm' by the United States Green Building Council Best of Building Awards due to their work on sustainable, LEED Certified, EarthCraft Certified, and Energy Star projects in the residential, commercial, and industrial segments.

We hear that the in-house TV is working again and hope it will carry the program but would encourage our friends and neighbors to attend in person and ask their questions, and we will learn all we can from this important program.

Members of the Green Committee know Charles Hendricks as the Harrisonburg architect with a commitment to healthy, energy-efficient, and durable building. Any Sunnyside resident who has parked for an LLI class diagonally across West Bruce Street from the Ice House has looked straight across at a fulfilled vision of Charles Hendricks, who needed office space and was responsible for transforming the Chesapeake Western Railroad Depot just a few years ago from a fire-damaged ruin into a modern office building while restoring its historic facade and recovering a number of its recoverable historic artifacts.

We hope to see you at the presentation! --Bill Dent
